Replay

This week (Week 8) we have been writing about a video called replay. I enjoyed writing about this story because it is a bit different because it is a diary entry.

Here is my story, I hope you like it:

Dear Diary,
Hi Mr Diary, It’s me, Theo. My sister, Lana just got back with a torch for me. She had a tape recording for us to sell, it was a recording of children playing. I tried to get it of Lana but she just said go to bed. The next morning I got up early, careful not to wake Lana, I reached up to get the tape recording. I found the  gas mask that fitted me. My heart pounded as I stepped out into the dusty streets.

I walked the mile long walk to the small village and entered some big gates that led to a small school courtyard. I sat down on a rusty merry-go round kind of thing. Turning the tape on, I placed it next to me and spun around. Suddenly I hear two people playing with a paper jet. I imagine them throwing the jet and running to retrieve it. I really want to play with them.

I pluck up the courage to remove my goggles and face mask. I removed them slowly and fell to the ground, dreaming that my leg had grown back and the two people had come to life.

When I woke up (three hours later) I saw that the tape had snapped. I said to Lana that I would never ever go anywhere without her.

WALT: Add fractions together using multiplication.

WALT: Add fractions together using multiplication.

Hi guys, this past week my maths group has been learning about adding fractions using multiplication. At first it was a bit hard for me, but I got used to it quickly. I have made a DLO for you so you can understand it as well.

I hope you enjoy my video and learn from it!

Memory Keys

This week we have been writing a story about a man and his piano. Here is a link to the video we watched for inspiration: Piano Video.

I hope you enjoy it:

Slow, depressing music flowed around me as my fingers flew across the piano key. My heart melted as all my memories came flooding into my head. Tears welled in my eyes as I remembered my beautiful wife, Annie, playing this piano the year before last with me. I remembered, her, kissing me on the cheek. That was before she was killed in a car crash a year later, obviously.

Another memory came shooting into my mind. It was about when I was in the war. Me and my friend, Conner Ripe, were preparing to jump out behind a wall and start attacking. When Connor jumped out he got shot in the chest. That was another very sad day for me.

I saw my little grandchild, Tom, playing with something that had once been mine. That brought back another memory, It was my tenth birthday and my mother had just given me her gift. My father handed his gift to me, it was long and thin with a blue ribbon tied around it. I opened it with building tension. It was a little horse with a wheel at the end. I had hopped on it at once. That was years before I had handed it down to Tom.

My piano brung back lots of memories, happy and sad…

School Production

This week (week 6) we are doing a school production. It happened on Wednesday the 30th and Thursday 31st of August. Our topic was NZ Music Month. We had a whole bunch of songs to choose from. The song I danced to was Slice of Heaven by Dave Dobbyn. Here is a Link to the song. The other nine songs are: I See Red, Chains, Six Months In A Leaky Boat,  Sway, How BizzareWe Don't Know How Lucky We Are, Outlook For ThursdayGutter Black and Why Does Love Do This To Me.

Does Love Do This To Me was the finale song that the whole class (Ako Ngatahi) sang/danced to.

Before the show we had to make props and practise loads.

I felt nervous and scared. My song was the fourth song onstage. I felt very proud of myself when I danced because I used big moves. When we sang Why Does Love Do This To Me I had so much fun but I was glad when it was over!

It was fun but tiring.
